Some luxuries are nice!

Ok, first things. Wayne emailed me! :-) and Annn said she would call after we have been here a month (That is the 4th of August) Yeah!

Ok, I picked up the car today, and as much as I love the Italian way of trains and busses, which work for every day to work travel, and even going into places like Florence or Rome, I LIKE HAVING A CAR! (we put the air conditioning on full force for the first 1/2 hour, then had windows open afterwards.

I don't have to wait for busses, I can drive in the countryside all I want, I donĂ t have to be back in town by 9 pm in order to catch the last bus up to the apt. i like having a car!

I am scared I'll never get over it when I have to bring it back in three weeks. :-(

But for know we plan on going somewhere every day after school. We ha dour first day today. We love the teacher, and there were only three of us, because others were testing to see what class to take.

It is challenging because the teacher will not speak English, but lots of fun to get around the language to explain your question etc. We have class Monday thru Thursday and have 3 days off. (road trips!) Tues is the tough day, we start a little later, 10:00, but the go to 2, then have a 2 hours break, then back at 4 and on til 7 pm! Ick!

Every other day we go 8 - 1, that is more like it, though I hate having to get up at a certain time. Being unemployed has been NICE that way, sleep as late as you want......

Anyway, we finally started school, and we will be taking more trips, so things should pick up on the blog soon!

Oh, I was even able to navigate this car (we rented the smallest one they had) down our street that is blocked off, turn it around, and park it without hitting anything! I like what the rental guys says when he showed us the car. He goes "don't worry about those scratches on the front, you can even make more, no problem!" They have a special waver (CDW??) where basically you don't have to worry about scratches, NO one gets away scratch free inthis hill town. Yeah! ok, later. Ciao.

Hi Diana! Saw your postcard on the office bulletin board and found your blog. I will keep reading it and wishing I had the courage you have. More later!
